On 15 August 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru, who had become the first Prime Minister of India that day, raised the Indian national flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi and opened the gates of opportunity, progress and prosperity for the nation. Presidians celebrated India’s independence with zeal and fervour. They adorned the entire premise with the tri colour and engaging in craft activities based on Independence Day theme. A grand Independence Day assembly and flag hoisting ceremony was also held. All the students and teachers saluted the flag and proudly sang the national anthem. The celebration ended with a message of working together, celebrating brotherhood, inclusion and spreading peace and harmony.
